Before you accept

Being named in a plan or acknowledgment does not transfer ownership and does not require you to accept placement.

  • Review the cat’s health, behavior, routines, relationships, and likely costs
  • Confirm household, housing, veterinary, and transport capacity
  • Ask who has authority to transfer the cat and who can approve expenses

Document the placement

A Successor Caregiver Acknowledgment and Placement Agreement records the actual transfer and the accepted care relationship.

  • Ownership and effective transfer date
  • Care standards and access to current records
  • Monitoring and reasonable updates
  • Return-to-program rights
  • No transfer to another person or organization without approval

If the plan changes

Contact Feline Transitions promptly if you move, become unable to continue, lose housing approval, or believe the placement is no longer safe. Do not wait for the annual review.
